Google - If you think it is just about searching for stuff on the web you are missing the best part
Glenn McMahon
Workshop on Thursday, 8 April 2010 13:30 - 15:00 in room 218
We all know Google is a search engine, but by getting a free Google account, you can open up whole range of different tools that have amazing potential in the classroom. Everyone should have one! And it's free.
This session will look at the collaborative tools/applications such as:
Google docs:Free web-based word processor, presentation tool and spreadsheet, which allow you share and collaborate online.
Google forms: Create quick and easy online surveys and forms and have all the data collated as soon as people fill them out for you.
Google Calendar: Organizing your schedule shouldn't be a burden. With Google Calendar, it's easy to keep track of life's important events all in one place
Google maps: Rather than just get directions, make your own maps to show distance, places of interest, the path of an explorer or plot of a story.
Customised search engines: Create your own Google search engines to only search for specific content, great for units of work.
iGoogle: Customize your homepage to include the information you want to see or use as an RSS feeder
Google Squared: Use the power of the Google search engine to find information (not links) you want about topics in an easy to use, dynamic table of data for students to use and analyse.
