Presentation on Wednesday, 7 April 2010 11:10 - 11:50 in room 210
This session will look at the tensions and benefits of learning in web 2.0 environments and how this influences teacher practice. We explore the structures and support needed to enable teachers to use online environments to become global learners and effective collaborators, but also to enhance learning and teaching for their students. We will evaluate our ICT professional learning journey in contemporary online environments.
The session will address the following questions. What is needed to close the confidence gap for teachers who are new to web 2.0? What is needed to encourage high-end users of web 2.0 to focus their learning more clearly on effective teacher practice and improving student learning outcomes? How can we develop more pedagogical sophistication and awareness in our use of the read-write web for student learning and teaching? Finally, what models do we have of teachers rigorously evaluating their online practice?
