What are the benefits and challenges of learning in a 1-to-1 classroom? How can 1-to-1 computing create an elearning environment that optimises learning for each student?

This presentation will consider the implementation of 1-to-1 computing programs in a range of different school settings, as well as the professional learning structures and approaches needed for teachers to support their students’ learning powerfully in a 1-to-1 classroom. We will have Victorian information about how 1-to-1 learning plays out in real learning spaces and schools across the state. What are the factors that are crucial to the success of 1-to-1 learning programs and what do we need to consider in terms of teacher learning and raising teacher confidence? We will outline Victoria’s 2009 Netbook Trial involving 10000 students and draw on the research we commissioned.
