ThinkQuest is a competition that challenges teams of students to engage in a topic of their choice, researching information and presenting the results of their work as a website resource for other students. The research, analysis, creativity and teamwork required provides students with an opportunity to develop the very skills so often cited as necessary for the 21st century.

ThinkQuest began in the mid 90s as a concept to stimulate the use of the internet in schools and quickly grew to be an international competition. Today it continues as an activity that promotes creativity, collaboration, communication and critical thinking skills. The student-generated websites are judged on criteria such as their information content, writing style, educational relevance, global relevance and technical functionality.

In 2009, the Australian Council for Computers in Education conducted a ThinkQuest competition for Australian schools. In the conference session, the winning students and team coaches from that competition will share their experiences from last year, explain how they organised the activity in their school and describe the educational journey they enjoyed.

The session will also provide details about how schools can participate in the 2010 ThinkQuest Australia competition.
