Within the last decade a variety of ICT tools appeared and spread around the world. In Europe more than 30 kinds of interactive boards are in use and in each country teachers may encounter at least 10 types in their everyday work. To each type, additional tools are obtainable, and generally the use of these also require special knowledge acquisition. Although in special subject education the development of curricula to these additional tools has begun, their availability in schools is infrequent, similarly to interactive boards. It also happens within one school that if there is an interactive board at all, they are of 3-5 different kinds by classrooms. In certain countries older teachers lack even the basic informatics knowledge (Windows, Office), so this diversity of tools makes their introduction even more difficult, even though students are very much interested in them and their motivating role is proved. In our lecture we first present a concise summary on the types of ICT tools and their appearance in different countries, and illustrate their application in class with pictures and videos. Then the comparison of board softwares follows. Finally we review the role of these tools in distant learning.
