The Redback Project
Suzanne Arnott
Presentation on Friday, 9 April 2010 14:35 - 15:15 in room 212
Inspired by the "23 Things" (Learning 2.0) Project developed by Helene Bowers for the staff at the Public Library of Charlotte and Mecklenburg County in August 2006, I have adapted it to be more useable in Victorian schools. The project is aimed to assist teachers who are wanting to get a better understanding of a range of Web 2.0 tools, and how they can be used in the classroom. There are a range of self paced modules which participants can explore to develop their own skills and become confident and excited about using these technologies in the classroom, as well as in their own lives.
The tasks begin with mapping where you are on the ePotential continuum (a Victorian Government initiative). Through the use of blogs participants will record and reflect on their journey of discovery also exploring: images, wikis, tags, RSS, social networking, copyright issues, internet safety, open source software, podcasts and wikis.
Those who have already developed skills in some areas, may just select aspects to work through and extend themselves.

And why call it the Redback project? It's Australian based, a bit dangerous (new ways to teach) and something webby and yet not techy.
This is how you cite this paper:
Wear it on your sleeve!
