Being involved with the Teaching Languages for Literacy Project, I developed a series of flipcharts for the Promethean Interactive Whiteboard in German to use as part of a Literacy Block approach as used in English. Due to the success of this in German I further developed this idea to use in other curriculum areas. I have developed a series of flipcharts that the Early Years students can use in curriculum areas such as maths and literacy and SOSE. Once introduced the students are able to use them to take charge of and monitor their own learning. My students are encouraged to study both independently and in small groups. I will show examples of how my students use the Interactive Whiteboard and ICT to take charge of their learning.
