What is ACEC2010?

The Australian Computers in Education Conference 2010 (ACEC2010) is the biennial conference of the Australian Council for Computers in Education (ACCE). The ACEC conference is hosted by ICT in Education Victoria the Victorian member of ACCE.

Who is the conference for?

This conference is for all educators who use information communication technologies (ICT) in teaching and learning, or would like to. This conference will help participants discover new strategies for the use of ICT in the classroom, inspiring delegates to use ICT tools in appropriate and effective ways for the development of student outcomes.

This conference is for secondary and primary classroom teachers, primary specialist teachers, principals and school leadership teams, school network managers and technicians, managers of learning technologies in kindergarten, tertiary institutions and tertiary ICT educators and consultants.

This is a national conference, featuring prominent Australian and overseas speakers and educators. The conference program will provide a comprehensive selection of best practice occurring in classrooms throughout the Australian states and territories, showcasing the latest ICT initiatives taking place in Australian schools.

Sponsors can take advantage of this unique opportunity to reach potential markets up until early 2010 through advertising that will take place from now until after the event in April 2010 reaching people working within the education field across Australia as well as the 2,000 delegates nation wide that will be at the conference in Melbourne 2010.

The conference aims to:

  • Be a strategic, pivotal point in the professional lives of its delegates where they have opportunities to reflect on the past, gather knowledge of current initiatives and plan their journey through future scenarios.
  • Provide a meeting place for the leaders of ICT in learning from Australia and other nations, so the synergy of their shared wisdom reinvigorates the energy and vision of the leadership.
  • To celebrate and learn about learning and teaching with ICT from excellent teachers in schools, TAFE colleges and universities.
  • Celebrate the achievements in non-metropolitan areas and in Indigenous schools and communities.
  • Encourage international colleagues to contribute to the knowledge of Australian ICT leaders.
  • Provide a platform for scholars and researchers to share their work.
  • Provide the venue for non-profit associations and other professional groups to work together to improve curriculum reform, the use of ICT in learning and professional learning.
  • Provide the venue for the industry sector to meet their clients.

The conference will be conducted through:

  • Pre-conference workshops to continue the learning of expert groups and for in depth professional learning.
  • International and national keynotes.
  • Refereed papers sharing research, scholarly work and good ideas.
  • Non-refereed papers and stories for the classroom.
  • Educational tours to view ICT in use.
  • Panels and forums to provoke discussion and to share multiple views.
  • Trade and product demonstrations.

Terrific timing - national audience

All Australian states and territories have term break at the time of the national conference. This gives sponsors a potential national market of teachers with across the curriculum interests as well as access to other ICT educational enthusiasts who choose to attend the conference. Sponsors therefore have the opportunity to target this market with confidence.

Great opportunity to communicate with teachers

There are thousands of teachers across all sectors, systems and levels throughout Australia. The teachers attending this conference are not just interested in ICT. This conference provides sponsors from non ICT areas the opportunity to market products and information with this professional body.

Productive partnerships - building futures

Education systems Australia-wide are in a period of curriculum renewal so it is a great opportunity for sponsors to showcase ICT resources as well as other products that enhance teaching and learning opportunities. The conference is specifically ICT focused, giving sponsors maximum scope to build sustainable links with schools, tertiary institutions, vocational providers, educational agencies and individual users of learning technologies.
